Rainbow Mermaids Lose Late, 6-3
|
Toledo ruined an otherwise fine effort from Marty Collins by toppling Northern Virginia, 6-3. The Northern Virginia pitcher threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Gilbert Owen picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Augusto Gonzáles suffered the loss. Sam Myers closed it out for Toledo, earning his 9th save.
Clancy Hendricks came through with a big-time hit for Toledo. The third baseman smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 6-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Hendricks.
Toledo is now 14-9.
