Ponies Beat Piranhas, 7-5
|
The Kingston Ponies beat the Panama City Piranhas, 7-5, at Megaffin Park. The win was due in part to second baseman Phil Brooks, who went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Kingston reliever John Black got the win, raising his record to 2-2. Raymond Thomas was tagged with the loss. Panama City now has a record of 7-13.
With Kingston leading 5-4 in the bottom of the fourth, Brooks hit a run-scoring single off Panama City hurler Raymond Thomas. It was the 23rd hit of the season for Brooks and put his team ahead, 6-4.
Brooks told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
