Dirty Reds Keep Streak Alive With 5-3 Win
|
Another day, another victory for the red-hot Dayton Dirty Reds.
Thunder Bay right fielder Calvin Shanahan had a good game, even if his team did not. The Northern Lions BC dropped a 5-3 decision to Dayton at Great Northern Field. Shanahan went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Dayton has now won 10 straight, while the Northern Lions BC have lost 5 in a row.
Gil Newell had a big 2-run home run for the Dirty Reds in the top of the fifth inning. With Dayton leading 3-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from fan favorite Ben Sackett and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Dirty Reds on top, 5-1.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Newell told the Dayton Bulletin.
