Ponies Earn Late 6-5 Win
|
The Kingston Ponies picked up a win at Megaffin Park, knocking off the Detroit Rock City, 6-5. Starting pitcher Edward Small was a big reason why. The win went to Fred Hull in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Daniel Haney took the loss. The 6th-place Ponies sport a record of 12-11.
Kingston got a jolt from David Vargas. The shortstop ripped a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it brought the house down.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Small. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
