Pitcher Mitsuo Yoshida was rock solid in helping the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids beat the Memphis Mockingbirds, 6-0. Yoshida picked up the win for Northern Virginia, going 8 innings. He gave up no runs on 9 hits. He now sports a record of 2-4. The win puts Northern Virginia at 7-18.

António García had a big 2-run home run for the Rainbow Mermaids in the top of the fourth inning. With Northern Virginia leading 3-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a cutter from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Juan Cervantes and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 5-0.

"When I throw strikes I'm good, if I don't I'm not very good," said Yoshida. "So I just have to throw strikes."
