The Buckhead Bowties had to overcome a fine effort from Dayton pitcher Ioachime Yakutin to win, 5-3, at Lang Park. Yakutin went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Joe Proctor snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 4.1 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. The Bowties move to 13-16 with the win, while the Dirty Reds drop to 17-12.
Buckhead used the timely hitting of Eulogio Churruca to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Bowties ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Churruca. "Just do my job."
