Ponies Go Down to Defeat, 9-6
Behind a solid performance from catcher Esteban Mancíto, the Buckhead Bowties defeated the Kingston Ponies, 9-6. Mancíto went 3-3 with 2 doubles and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Bowties. Leonard Ramírez, the winner, goes to 1-2. He allowed 5 runs on 5 hits, with 5 walks and 3 strikeouts over 6.2 innings. Picking up the save was Knud Sterner, his 2nd.

Mancíto contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Buckhead in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, Mancíto took a fastball from Fred Boman and stroked the double to center. His 5th double of the season allowed the Bowties to leap in front, 3-2.

"You can't hate how you win if you win," said Buckhead skipper Kerry Hofmeister.

Buckhead, at 17-18, occupies 8th place in the Third League.
