The Toronto Thunder knocked off the New Orleans Voodoo, 7-3, in United States Premier League action at The Voodoo Lounge. Toronto pitcher and Canberra, Australia, native Tai sun Rang had an outstanding performance. Rang, now 2-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The 7th-place Thunder are now 14-13, the Voodoo 14-13.
Toronto needed the clutch hitting of John Matthews to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Thunder on top, 3-1. For the game, Matthews had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Rang told the Toronto Daily: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
