Toronto had no answer for Memphis Mockingbirds hurler Terry Ward, who overwhelmed Thunder hitters as the Mockingbirds coasted to victory, 8-1. The winning pitcher was Ward, now 1-0. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 5. The loss makes Toronto 19-15.

Memphis used the timely hitting of Lou Miller to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mockingbirds ahead, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"We came out aggressive," said Mockingbirds manager Beau Carsten. "We came out swinging the bats."
