Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Rocketeers
|
The Seattle Rocketeers locked up a win at Grazing Hills, knocking off the Colorado Billy Goats, 4-2. On the mound for Seattle was right-hander Bruce Hawkins. He played a major role in the triumph. Earning his 2nd save for Seattle was Bill Hayes. The loss drops Colorado to 1-3.
Seattle used the hitting of Luigi Mangione to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rocketeers on top, 3-2. For the game, Mangione had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Hawkins attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
