The Ottawa Fat Cats beat the Yakima Hops, 3-2. Ottawa pitcher and Mt. Vernon, Illinois, native Jed Banks led the way. Banks got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 5 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Lowell Martin recorded the save for Ottawa, his 1st of the season.

The Fat Cats got a big at-bat from third baseman Brian Walls. For the game, Walls went 1 for 4 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Ottawa a 3-2 lead.
