Stingers Get Past Seattle for 4-3 Win
|
In a tight contest at Boeing Dome, the Toledo Stingers edged the Seattle Rocketeers by the score of 4-3. Toledo right fielder Viet Long, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. The win belonged to Gil Dunn in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Bill Hayes took the loss for Seattle. Picking up the save was 26-year old left-handed pitcher Sam Myers.
Long broke a deadlock in the top of the ninth inning, when he hit a sacrifice fly, putting Toledo up, 4-3.
"Bottom line," said Seattle skipper Andrew Powell, "we didn't play well enough to win."
Toledo, at 26-19, sits in third place in the Premier League.
