Tate Socks Stingers in 4-1 Kingfishers Win
|
The exploits of designated hitter Kelsey Tate helped the Pittsburgh Kingfishers defeat the Toledo Stingers, 4-1. Tate went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Héctor González, 1-3, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Picking up his 1st save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher John Dodson.
Tate had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 0-1 curveball from Gil Dunn, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Kingfishers a 4-1 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Tate.
"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Tate.
With the victory, the Kingfishers record stands at 21-29.
