Northern Virginia Wins, Gómez goes 3-for-4
Behind a fine performance from Alfredo Gómez, the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids knocked off the Seattle Rocketeers, 9-3. Gómez was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Rainbow Mermaids. Danny Landry claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 6.1 innings. His record stands at 5-1. The 4th-place Rocketeers now sit at 27-24.

In the bottom of the third, Gómez had a 3-run home run for Northern Virginia. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 4-1.

"Things kind of got away from us," said Seattle skipper Andrew Powell.
