Philadelphia shortstop Jim Alexander contributed significantly to his team's 11-4 win over the Austin Black Mambas. Alexander, who is tied for 6th in the SAAA in stolen bases with 2, went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Liberty Reserves. Jim Ball got the win, improving to 2-1. He worked 7 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. The first-place Liberty Reserves hiked their record to 17-6.

Juan Morales was 1 for 5, while scoring 2 for Philadelphia. The 29-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Ryan Glover. It was his 9th RBI of the season.
