The Florence Flamingos scored a tight, 5-4 win versus the Philadelphia Liberty Reserves at Liberty Reserve Stadium. Florence pitcher Gustavo Martínez held his own in the contest. The Flamingos are now 9-17.

The most critical at-bat came in the top of the tenth inning. With one out, José Castro hit a 1-0 fastball from Bill Carson for a 2-run single. It put Florence in front, 5-3.

"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Florence field general Nick Hoskins.
