Late Rally by Starks Locks Up 4-1 Win
|
The Syracuse Starks rode a solid performance from 28-year-old starting pitcher Vincent Jones to a win, beating the Florence Flamingos, 4-1, at Stark Stadium. David Cole earned the save for Syracuse, his 4th of the year. The Starks, now 21-20, have won 4 in a row.
Syracuse went in front, 4-1, on Chris Adams's 2nd double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Adams hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Florence pitcher Martin Humphrey visibly perturbed.
"You have to trust that what you're doing is going to produce results," said Jones.
