Lynx Beat Syracuse, 1-0
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Calgary Lynx and the Syracuse Starks. Calgary won it, 1-0. Calgary starter Pat Butler was in command. The Lynx improved to a lofty 35-13.
Tim Raines went 1-3 with a walk for Calgary. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Raines, who is tied for 2nd in the SAAA in bases on balls with 27, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Syracuse hurler David Jordan, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Lynx a 1-0 lead.
"Pat -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Lynx manager Steve Duncan. "He was the key to us winning."
