The Syracuse Starks did just enough to nip the Plymouth Rocks, 4-3, in 13 innings. Syracuse pitcher José Carmona, in particular, had a standout performance. The win went to Mario Méndez in relief, making him now 4-2. Joe Roberts took the loss for Plymouth. Syracuse is now 39-32.
The Starks got a clutch hit from first baseman Kenneth Alexander. In the bottom of the 13th, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Starks.
"A great team win and something real positive we can build on," said Alexander after the game.
