The Syracuse Starks, despite a fine performance by Kansas pitcher Michael Carlson, grabbed a 3-2 win at Wichita Field. Carlson allowed no runs over 7 innings. Robbie Stanley, who went 8 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 4-6. Mario Méndez locked down his 7th save.

Syracuse used a timely hit from Mike Hancock to get the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Starks ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.

"We try to keep the mood light around here," said Hancock. "Winning helps."

With the victory, the Starks upped their record to 48-35.
