O'Neal Helps Memphis Cruise to 10-3 Win
The Memphis Mockingbirds defeated the Boston Patriots, 10-3, in part because of designated hitter James O'Neal. O'Neal was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the Mockingbirds. P.J. O'Day earned the win for Memphis. He lasted 7.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 5-6. The third-place Patriots have lost 4 straight games.

Memphis used a clutch at-bat from Celestino Pvoas to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mockingbirds ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
