Dominant Performance by Smithley in Cape Coral Win
In a low-scoring game between the Cape Coral Hurricanes and the Mexico City Blue Demons, pitcher Bob Smithley was masterful on the mound. The Cape Coral left-hander spearheaded his team's 1-0 win. Silas Jacobs nailed down his 7th save. The 8th-place Hurricanes now have a win-loss record of 18-19.

Smithley, a native of Easton, Massachusetts, was dealing all game. He kept Mexico City hitters off-balance, while giving the Hurricanes 7.1 quality innings. Smithley threw 112 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out 7.

"Bob executed his pitches at a high level," said Cape Coral manager Greg Diersing.
