Battery Score Late, Clip Northern Lions BC, 3-2
|
The Charleston Battery picked up a win at Great Northern Field, downing the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, 3-2, in 11 innings. On the mound for Charleston was right-hander Rush Moore, who played a pivotal role in the win. The Battery sit in second place in the Third League with a record of 27-15.
Charleston needed the clutch hitting of Dennis Kemp to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Battery on top, 3-2. For the game, Kemp had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Charleston manager Matt Hunt.
