Rainbow Mermaids Pick Up 4-2 Win
|
Northern Virginia pitcher Mitsuo Yoshida did his part in helping his team beat the New Orleans Voodoo, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The winner was Yoshida. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Alex Thompson. Picking up the save was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Quinton Barnard.
Second Baseman Craig Webb made an impact for Northern Virginia, when he swatted a 2-run double off Alex Thompson in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, Webb was 2-4 with a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Yoshida.
The win puts Northern Virginia at 32-31 this season.
