McGuire Lifts Hurricanes to 7-6 Triumph
|
A 3-RBI performance from Jim McGuire helped the Cape Coral Hurricanes beat the Nova Scotia Leviathan, 7-6. Bob Smithley, the winner, is now 7-3. He struck out 5 and walked 3 over 7.1 innings, while allowing 6 runs on 9 hits. Mark Smith picked up the save, his 8th.
Callum Pender, who is tied for 7th in the 3L in triples with 3, contributed to the Cape Coral win with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Pender, "but we got it done."
Cape Coral bumps their record to 23-33 with the win.
