Ponies Lose Again, 10-6, to Battery
|
Though he had a terrific game, Phil Brooks could not prevent his team, the Kingston Ponies, from absorbing a loss. Charleston won the game, 10-6. Brooks was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Charleston reliever Jing-quo Hark picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Johnny Flannery took the loss. The Ponies, at 28-41, have lost 7 in a row.
John Hunter, who finished 3rd in the 3L in batting average with .330 last year, had a timely hit in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Charleston shortstop hit a run-scoring single. That put the Battery in front, 7-6.
"We've got to kick it in gear soon," said Kingston manager Rayzor Ray.
