Gary Mosley, who finished 4th in the 3L in innings pitched with 172.0 in 2060, imposed his will on the Oaks from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 5-0 Charleston triumph. Tim Thompson, now 4-1, was credited with the win in 3.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. The Battery, at 43-27, have now won 4 straight.
Had Christian Weaver not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Weaver hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-0, in favor of the Battery.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Weaver told the Charleston Citizen.
