Slumping Ponies Lose Again
|
The Nova Scotia Leviathan rode a solid performance from 24-year-old starting pitcher Ernesto Valdéz to a win, beating the Kingston Ponies, 3-2, at The Dungeon in Halifax. Valdéz got the win, improving to 6-5. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The losses continue to mount for Kingston, which has now dropped 8 in a row.
Greg Hudson had a big 2-run home run for the Leviathan in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Nova Scotia leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a sinker from 33-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Smith and punished it. The result was his 16th home run of the season, which put the Leviathan on top, 3-0.
"Ernesto showed what he's made of," said Nova Scotia manager Tyler Studebaker.
