Northern Lions BC Win at Charleston, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC and the Charleston Battery, 33-year old right-handed pitcher José Gonzáles was the difference-maker. The Thunder Bay right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Gonzáles, now 1-1, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The Northern Lions BC sit in 11th place in the Third League with a record of 33-46.
Thunder Bay used the timely hitting of Brett Taylor to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Northern Lions BC on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Northern Lions BC manager Scott Williams.
