The Cape Coral Hurricanes weathered a fine game by Nova Scotia left fielder Brian Orpen to upend the Leviathan, 8-4, at Factory of Sadness. Orpen was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Harry Marshall was the winner. He's now 5-3. The loser was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Ernesto Valdéz. Picking up the save was Silas Jacobs, his 20th.
Melvin Henderson, who is tied for 7th in the 3L with a .313 batting average, chipped in a grand slam home run for Cape Coral in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 4 runs batted in.
"I felt good up there," said Henderson. "I saw the ball well."
The Hurricanes, at 45-41, sit in third place in the Third League.
