Fat Cats Fall Short, 5-4, at Westwood
|
Westwood Sixshooters starter Joe Gordon pitched a strong game against the Ottawa Fat Cats at Sixshooters Stadium, leading the Sixshooters to victory, 5-4. Gordon, now 1-3, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 4 runs. The save went to Manny Rodríguez, number 5 for him.
Shawn Miller had a big 2-run home run for the Sixshooters in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Westwood trailing 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Lowell Martin and swatted a home run to left. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sixshooters ahead, 2-1.
Westwood manager Doug Burton praised his team's "energy."
The 10th-place Fat Cats have dropped 4 straight games.
