Loss to Rails Extends Pine Island Losing Streak
|
Richland and Pine Island duked it out and the Rails came out victorious.
Pine Island got a decent performance from pitcher Paul Clark, but it wasn't enough to beat the Richland Rails. Richland won the Rails Ballpark contest, 5-2. Clark threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The third-place Rails have won 5 in a row.
The Rails got a big at-bat from designated hitter Will Prince. For the game, Prince was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Richland a 2-1 lead.
Said losing manager Alfonso Dolton: "These are the grinding hard days that all good teams go through, and this is when we've got to stick together and believe in one another."
