Whales Earn 5-3 Home Win
|
The Virginia Beach Whales picked up a win at Virginia Beach Grounds, dropping the Tacoma Fur Traders, 5-3. Chip Beatty, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2056 draft, was the difference-maker. Beatty yielded 3 runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 0, and struck out 9. His record improves to 2-2. The 11th-place Whales now sit at 13-26.
Will Lewis dealt the Fur Traders a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and Virginia Beach leading 2-0, Lewis hit a 2-1 fastball for a 2-run single.
"Chip just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Virginia Beach manager Wilson López.
