Hops Suffer One-Run Loss at Ottawa
|
Yakima second baseman Claudio Mejía had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Mejía went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once, even as Ottawa beat the Hops, 7-6. The winning pitcher was Ed Baker. His record now stands at 1-3. The right-hander went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits for the Fat Cats. Trevor Park was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
Jason Hudson came through for Ottawa when he hit a 2-run single in the bottom of the first. With the bases loaded, he hit a two-strike changeup to center field, staking his team to a 2-1 lead.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Hudson.
The 9th-place Fat Cats now sit at 19-21.
