The Asheville Highlanders scored a tight, 2-1 win versus the Toledo Saboteurs at Asheville Park. Asheville pitcher Neil Smith held his own in the contest. The loss makes Toledo 20-22.

The Highlanders got an important contribution from second baseman Dong-hua Sima, who in the bottom of the second knocked a 1-1 sinker to right-center for a run-scoring double. It was his 8th double of the season and put the Highlanders ahead, 2-0.

"Tough loss," said Toledo manager Rodney Dudley. "But we'll learn from it."
