Farmers Best Highlanders in Pitching Duel
|
The Lancaster Farmers picked up a win at Farmers Field, downing the Asheville Highlanders, 1-0. On the mound for Lancaster was right-hander Buff A. Lowe, who played a pivotal role in the win. Lancaster is now 27-31, Asheville 33-25.
Had George Ayala not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Ayala hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Farmers.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Ayala.
