Hops Park did not lack for drama.
Though he had a terrific game, Ken Robinson could not prevent his team, the Pine Island Dolphins, from absorbing a loss. Yakima won the game, 7-6. Robinson went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2. Chris Bright, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 0.
Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 25-year old third baseman Peyton Nelson had a real shot to win the game. Pine Island pitcher Dallas Bullard was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Nelson hit a run-scoring single. The Hops had a walk-off triumph.
"Just glad I could help us get a win," said Nelson.
Yakima is now 46-27, 2 games up in the Menard's AA.
