Peterson Excels, But Hops Win
|
Pine Island first baseman Norm Peterson was sensational. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Yakima beat the Dolphins, 6-5. The first-place Hops go to 47-27.
Rick O'Shea, who is tied for 4th in the 3AA in home runs with 14, chipped in a solo home run for Yakima in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Pine Island manager Alfonso Dolton. "But we decided not to take it."
