Big Day for Méndez in 6-2 Saboteurs Win
|
Good production from catcher Félix Méndez helped the Toledo Saboteurs topple the Yakima Hops, 6-2. Méndez went 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Saboteurs. Gonzalo Espinoza got the win, improving to 6-5. He held the Hops to no runs on 4 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 12 and walking 1. Jesse Yates earned the save for Toledo, his 2nd.
Henry Jans was vital to the Toledo win. He went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the second with one out, Jans hit a 2-run single. It made the score 3-0, in favor of the Saboteurs.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Méndez told the Toledo Herald. "It's as simple as that."
The 6th-place Saboteurs now have a win-loss record of 43-41.
