Farmers Roll to 8-3 Win Over Hops

The home crowd had a good time watching the Yakima Hops and Lancaster Farmers get after it.
Good production from second baseman Roberto Quintanilla helped the Lancaster Farmers topple the Yakima Hops, 8-3. Quintanilla was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Farmers. The winner was Lancaster reliever Fjodor Ishemgujin, now 4-4. The loser was Ray Melton.
Had Tom Harrison not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Harrison hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Farmers.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Yakima manager Giddy Potts.
The 10th-place Farmers now have a record of 38-50.
