Whales Go Down to Defeat, 3-1
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 24-year old third baseman Maurice King, the Arizona Javelina stopped the Virginia Beach Whales, 3-1. Lonnie Baldazo, the winning pitcher, is now 2-9. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, while fanning 0 and walking 4. The Javelina win now puts them at 41-54.
Arizona took a 2-1 lead on King's 10th home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Hou-kang Wu in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Arizona to the win.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said King. "You've got to get results."
