Expos Lose to Washington, 6-3
|
The Washington Generals beat the Niagara Falls Expos, 6-3. Washington pitcher and Scranton, Pennsylvania, native Brian Gibson led the way. Gibson, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Pedro Puglisi finished the game for Washington and earned his 1st save.
Steve Ferrell, the Washington center fielder, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 4-0, Generals. For the game, Ferrell was 1-4. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Ferrell told the Washington Herald. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
Washington is now 1-2.
