|
Victor Lagers pitched a gem to lead Toronto to victory over the Philadelphia Liberty, 3-1. Dennis Jones claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record stands at 6-0. Ron Murphy closed the game out for Toronto, earning his 19th save.
Fuzzy Benas's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 2nd and the game tied, 1-1. The Toronto second baseman hit a run-scoring single off Al Ivey to put the Thunder up.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Toronto manager Jordan Smith.
The wins continue to add up for Toronto. The latest makes it 7 in a row.
