The Vancouver Vipers defeated the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 5-2, in USPL Double A action at Vipers Ballpark. Vancouver pitcher Rudy Savage had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Savage, now 1-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. Sean Ellis notched his 3rd save of the season.

Early in the game, second baseman Rich Loudermilk had a 3-run home run for Vancouver. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Vipers on top, 3-0.

"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Eric Todd.

Mercer Island, with the loss, is 0-6.
