Atoms 3-2 Losers to Nuevo Mexico
|
Despite a great performance by Bethesda left fielder John Curry, the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis defeated the Atoms by the score of 3-2 at Atoms Field. Curry was 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. The win belonged to Josh Leach in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Simon Foster took the loss for Bethesda. Samuel Morris was credited with the save for Nuevo Mexico, his 11th of the season.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Mariachis had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the first, when right fielder Carter Clark hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Simon Foster and made the score 3-0, Mariachis. Clark was 1 for 4.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Clark told the Nuevo Mexico Observer.
After today's action, Nuevo Mexico sits at 18-9; Bethesda slips to 12-15.
