Though he had a terrific game, Joaquim Pona could not prevent his team, the Gulf Coast Turbeaus, from absorbing a loss. Gwinnett won the game, 10-3. Pona hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. With the win over Gulf Coast, the Guinea Pigs improved to 11-19.

In the bottom of the second inning, designated hitter Júlio Escamilla had a 3-run home run for Gwinnett. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Guinea Pigs on top, 4-2.

"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Escamilla told the Gwinnett Citizen.
