At Atlantica, the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids and Toronto Thunder were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Toronto designated hitter Juan Peña was instrumental in helping the Thunder triumph, 11-1, over the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids. Peña was 1 for 1 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The Thunder, at 53-42, have now won 4 straight.
Steven Dean drew 1 walk in 5 plate appearances against the Rainbow Mermaids. With the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run that put Toronto in front, 2-1.
"Things didn't bounce our way," said Northern Virginia skipper David Lister.
