Rainbow Mermaids Lose Versus Toronto, 6-5
Toronto Thunder starter Victor Lagers found his groove in his team's 6-5 win over the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids. The winning pitcher was Lagers, now 10-4. He tossed 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. Ron Murphy sewed up the save, his 20th.

Tied up with the Rainbow Mermaids in the top of the fourth inning, the Thunder got a boost from first baseman Douglas Wacher. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Wacher saw a 1-0 fastball from Finlay Midwinter and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Toronto on top, 1-0.

"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Toronto manager Jordan Smith.

Northern Virginia, at 49-47, has lost 4 straight.
