Mariachis Suffer 9-3 Loss to Vipers
|
The Vancouver Vipers downed the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 9-3, at Vipers Ballpark. The Vipers were led by Justin Walters. Walters went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Jean-Jacques Grimaud, the winner, is now 2-1. He struck out 4 and walked 2 over 7.1 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. With the win, Vancouver upped its record to 23-21.
With Vancouver leading 5-1 in the bottom of the second, Walters hit a grand slam home run off Nuevo Mexico hurler Burt Dickerson. It was the 2nd home run of the season for Walters and put his team ahead, 9-1.
"Feels good to get the job done," Walters said after the game.
