The Marquette Miners got a magnificent effort from pitcher Kiyonaga Kondo, who kept Mercer Island hitters in check en route to a 2-0 Miners win at Marquette Stadium. Marquette is 5th in the Premier AA with a record of 22-23.
Vicente Mejía came through for Marquette with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. The catcher was a perfect 3 for 3 in the game, including 1 home run and 2 singles. He scored 1 run and collected 2 runs batted in.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Eric Todd.
